TRIMET TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT ABUSES ITS PART TIME OPERATORS-PART 3

ALL THE WORK YOU HAVE DONE AS A PART TIMET COUNTS FOR NOTHING:

Mini-run operators shall accumulate seniority as mini-run operators only and shall not accumulate seniority as regular operators except that when additional regular operators are to be employed by the District, notice of intent shall be posted by the District.

Same way here, as a PT you accumulate PT seniority, when you go FT, you start over (at the bottom of the FT seniority roster).

Just because they do it up there doesn't make it any less wrong!

Seems like they should do it based on the number of hours worked -- something easily done now, but maybe not possible when the policy was implemented (i.e. pre-computer era).

Well, don't want to be the Devils advocate, but much like here, you are hired as a Mini Run Operator, which is technically, an entire different job title, class and duties than a Full Time Operator. They are in many ways completely different, an example is in that FT has extra board and report operators, while PT does not. When your hired, you know this, As right or not right as it may seem. Your claim would also say you should be able to move into Rail with your Mini Run Seniority, which is now even a different department....but you all stand together. It would not be fair to a FT operator who decided to go FT 2 years ago to be bumped to the bottom everytime a mini run operator with 25 years has now decided to go FT all the sudden.
