Jon Hunt did not show to the drivers of the year award ceremony.
The winning drivers did show up however, and lots of other folks.
Trimet did a good job with the accouterments from what I heard.
And there was grumbling that this maneuver by Jon was a token gesture that served no actual purpose.

Jon has been accused in the past by being to chummy with the general managers at these kind of events. Kind of a no win situation.
Personally it would have been a good opportunity for the union to have pickets outside on 17th. I'm sure Neil gave himself the opportunity to "toot his own horn" yesterday. Of course Fred was THE master of self promotion. Unfortunately these events become more about "them" and not about the operators who are there to be honored.
As far as the crowd, the retirees received letters in the mail inviting them. And there was some free food, which will attract a few. I'm sure the folks from upstairs came down just for the opportunity to unchain themselves from their desks for a few minutes.
