Gresham & Portland celebrations mark the anniversary of region's first light rail line

This is the 'official' Trimet news release. Surprisingly, they have actually mentioned the bus ridership in the body of the news release, which is about three times as many as the MAX line.

However, there is some explanation about the ancillary effects of the MAX line, namely 'land use'.

I only look at a TRANSIT system as a TRANSIT system, not something else. This is where I have a problem with our light rail development. It's not really about transit, its about development. The focus has shifted from providing decent transit to creating a 'vision' of community.

That is not a market driven concept, it is a government intrusion on free market principles.

The government is the worst place to allow decision making about the future of the citizenry. Do we really need more evidence of the complete failure of our government, on every level.
