Railvolution going to DC this year

How many Trimet execs will be attending this little yearly church service for all the light rail fanatics around the country? How much will be spent on having these execs attend this thing?

This is exactly why I said as part of TriMet's budget slashing, one of the requirements should be a total, outright ban on ALL travel. There is no need for this - after all, think of the carbon footprint that these folks will spew all over the nation when they can simply do a "virtual conference" where everyone simply attends by VoIP and internet streams.

But, in TriMet fashion...they should all be forced - if they MUST go - to travel via Amtrak, and in coach (no sleeping cars).

Unless, of course, they want to travel on their own dime.

to travel via Amtrak

And how much time would be lost doing that since were talking virtually the entire way across the country and back, in addition to the actual time spent at the event? Plus, would it really be cheaper?

Overall, for an event like this (and not just a business meeting involving various employees of a company), a VoIP-based solution is no match.
