I seem to be on the wrong side of public opinon, again
We count as our treasures what we have been socialized to count as treasures, though they defile our lives and make robots of us all: the automobile, the TV, the encapsulated suburban existence, the gleaming high buildings, the ever-rising GNP, 'fast' food. [To which we might add: the terrible legacy of Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, and Mark Zuckerberg--"heroes" only in an upside-down world.] We are moving in the wrong direction for human beings."

Do you think this silly little contest actually motivates anybody to come to work?

Fall Attendance Campaign
Our summer attendance campaign was a great success. We saw improved attendance in Operations this summer. Thank you for supporting our customers and each other!
We’re on the right track, now let’s keep moving. We launched a fall attendance campaign on September 1. Like the summer campaign, during the months of September, October and November, we will have prize drawings for $100 or $25 gift cards; all operators, supervisors, and maintenance employees who have perfect attendance during each month will be entered into the prize drawing.
What about employees who make it through all three fall months with zero chargeable time loss? Those folks will have a chance to win paid time off!
Review notices at garages or contact your manager for more information.
(It would have no bearing on my behavior, I couldn't care less bout those 'prizes')

Shelly Lomax says
At a recent TriMet board meeting a customer came forward with her laptop and played a snippet of video and audio from a bus ride. The audio and video were played without context, but as you may imagine, it was intended to cause raised eyebrows about an interaction on a bus. This sharing of video was on the heels of a photo sent by a customer to the local media making news.
Both of these incidents serve as a stark reminder that with pocket video cameras, smart phones and the like, every interaction has the opportunity to become a "YouTube" moment.
Please continue to use good judgment out there, stay off your cell phones when driving and stay calm when dealing with difficult people (contact Dispatch for help when you need it). Let the only thing they "catch you" at is doing a great job.

Gresham Transit Center changes explained
Attention operators of lines 4, 9, 12, 20, 80, 81, 82, & 84: Bay assignments at Gresham TC have changed
The bay assignments at Gresham Transit Center changed on October 2. Previously, some buses were turning south onto Kelly from 10th Avenue (or Gresham Terrace Rd). The timing of this maneuver over the MAX tracks resulted in occasional contact between TriMet buses and the crossing gate arm.
To remedy this safety issue, the Transit Change Review Committee approved changes to the bay assignments at Gresham Transit Center. These changes improve the timing of bus movements across the tracks and minimize the potential for contact with the crossing gate:
• Line 9 arrival bay is now located on 8th Avenue.
• Line 20 arrival bay has moved to the Transit Center driveway.
• All lines that are deadheading from GTC or returning to the garage now serve the “Arrivals Only” bay located on 8th Avenue.
• Do not layover at the “Arrivals Only” bay. This bay is only for passenger drop-off prior to deadheading or returning to the garage.
Your paddle outlines these changes. A map of the new bay assignments has also been posted at the garages and is being displayed on the flatscreens.
If you have any questions about the new GTC bay assignments, please contact your manager or Dispatch.

Architects honor Transit Mall renovation
They have to honor something about themselves I guess! Personally I think the design stinks and eventually somebody(s) will be killed down there.
