Chained up #94 bus on I-5 this evening

Now...WHY would you drive a chained up bus on I-5 knowing that you are going 25 MPH, and all those big trucks are doing 55?

We do it here too, except we can go 30. Sometimes the freeway is just quicker int he long run.

Until the bus gets rear-ended by a faster (speed limit) vehicle killing 20. If there is a "culture of safety"...surely intentionally driving a slow-moving vehicle onto a freeway does not exemplify that culture.

They are not supposed to be on the highway!

Well, If it gets rear ended, thats the faster moving vehicles fault for not watching where they are going, maybe theyll stay off the phone going forward. The bus should have its flashers on while traveling at the lower speed. Granted, TriMets lights might be rather dim on the dinos, if that is in place, its actually kosher. Also, the freeways tend to be less steep, make for easier travel (if snow/ice were actually present). Metro here makes a point to mention "Just because its nice where you are, doesn't mean its nice at the other end of that buses route.
