County may look at health impacts of bus transfers

How about the health impacts of:

1. TriMet's aging 21 plus year old bus fleet, as compared to new, more modern, less polluting buses in use elsewhere but Portland seems to be against actually acquiring new, modern buses.

2. TriMet's failure to provide shelters at the majority of bus stops (only one in eight) that exposes riders to cold, wet conditions or excessive hot without any shelter.

3. TriMet's failure to take into consideration the entire trip from door to bus stop - TriMet's failure to invest in sidewalks which proves a detriment to bus ridership as those concerned about safety would rather just drive a car rather than take the chance of getting hit by a car.

4. TriMet's insistence of unsafe bus stop placement, including bus stops within intersections and driveways, rather than safe off-street locations (again, with sidewalk access). There's no reason why TriMet should be intentionally putting riders directly in conflict with motorists; yet hundreds of bus stops are positioned just as such.

5. TriMet's insistence on operating buses without air conditioning, resulting in heat-related illnesses in the summer.
