work in a controlled environment, basically nine-five. Operators are working all kinds of unhealthy work shifts covering all hours of the day, are exposed to toxins being emitted by the Trimet equipment, and exposed to all sorts of illnesses by being in such close contact with the public at large. In other words, our jobs kill us!
Macfarlane is comparing apples and oranges, people should not be fooled by his rhetoric.
I'd also like people to be aware that all the non union employees are vested after 5 years on the job. Union employees are vested after 10 years. How is that fair?
Macfarlane also likes to brag that he hasn't had pay raise in 4 years! Bus operators haven't had a pay raise in 28 years. The only reason our wages have risen at all is due to cost of living index. We are also now saddled with paying a % of our health care premium...
DON'T BELIEVE THE HYPE OF MACFARLANE
