THE MAN WITHOUT A HEART WANTS YOU TO TAKE A WALK FOR YOUR HEART

I'm sure that many of us made one or two New Year's resolutions this year - mine is to balance our budget - but I would challenge you to add one more to your list - focusing on your heart health.

Heart disease is the number one killer in the nation and one of the simplest things you can do to help decrease your risk is walk. On May 19, the American Heart Association in Portland is holding their annual Heart Walk and I have pledged TriMet's support. I ask that each of you consider joining me in the 5k and in raising funds for research and education. Our goal is to raise over $250,000 for continued research and to have 10 teams of TriMet walkers.

More information on the walk, including how to register and a friendly competition, will be shared in the coming weeks but until then, please think about joining me in this cause. I also encourage you to consider being a "champion" and rally support for a TriMet team. If you are interested, contact Susan Jeffries in Organization Development or click here.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, May 19. There are two walk locations - Portland and Vancouver - to make participation even simpler. Not only is the Heart Walk a great way to show your support of the community, it's a great way to show your support for your TriMet family and those who have been, or may still be, touched by heart disease. Take the first step for your heart health!

Best,
Neil
