Rita Wages, 50, filed a charge of discrimination Jan. 19 with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, which enforces federal laws against discrimination in the workplace. The charge says she was dismissed from Citrus Connection in December after three years of employment.
Wages, a Lakeland resident, claimed the firing came in retaliation for her reporting a violation of federal health information privacy laws while she was on medical leave in June.
