TriMet: Bus driver who hit Tigard woman on Oregon 99W has 'good record'

The TriMet bus driver who struck a woman crossing Oregon 99W in Tigard last week has been identified as 64-year-old Tony Dauenhauer, a six-year veteran who has a clean driving record with the transit agency.
Dauenhauer remains on administrative leave as TriMet conducts its own investigation. “He has a good record,” said TriMet spokeswoman Mary Fetsch.

Tony is an incredibly good guy. Not long ago, while working, he alertly noticed a woman in distress as his bus passed the not so obvious, bad situation. Tony acted quickly and decisively in coming to the aid of this woman. Trimet knows this is true because, to their credit, they recognized him for his Samaritanism.
It's safe to say that no one probably feels worse than Tony about this recent accident and the terrible pain Zoe must be enduring. My thoughts go out to Zoe and her family, and also to Tony and his family.

For once, besides one idiot who failed to read the entire article, everyone is defending the driver.

She failed to use the crosswalk, its only a matter of when if you take risks like that on one of the regions busiest roads.

Just days after this incident - last Monday - I saw three stupid kids run out in front of me further south on 99W.

Just this morning, a regular rider - one that uses a walking stick and moves very slowly (I can't stand having to get on the bus with her...she pushes her way to the front and we all have to wait for her) decided that she didn't want to wait for the pedestrian she went, at 6:50 AM under the cover of dark...fortunately we didn't witness her getting smacked by a car. Right there at 99W and Walnut.

I don't get why my neighbors seem to lack brain cells.
