TriMet vs KC Metros Homepages

King County Metros Beta Homepage

Notice the "Accountability Center", right on the (new) homepage. Audits, surveys and financials. What a nice example to set for TriMet to follow?

Wow. TriMet does need something like that. Some transparency for those 't's!

Dig that growing Bus Rapid Transit system you've got going on up there. All at a fraction of the price of a single light rail line. Here in Portland, the light rail industrial complex (a cabal of Trimet execs, local and state politicos, construction companies, and real estate developers) would never allow a low cost, hyper-efficient BRT system for fear that it's success would doom their continuous boondoggling. This cabal has been cashing in on the success of the Blue and Red lines and siphoning money and resources from every possible source ever since. A once innovative and vibrant bus system has deliberately and systemically been left to wither. And as if that's not bad enough, this crony cabal (the latest rail to nowhere is to Milwaukie, population 20,000, whose mayor works upstairs at Trimet) is now cannibalizing the only two justified and purposeful lines, the Blue and the Red. That's right, in the face of the Great Recession they've continued to ram through nowhere lines like the Green and the Orange (Milwaukie) and now they're chewing off their own tail by reducing frequency and shortlining service on the Blue and the Red. But hey, don't look at bureaucratic fat cats and crony cabals, blame those greedy union workers!
