Trimet's union bashing has no traction with the public

Driving through puddles of red ink and starting up public meetings on its budget-balancing plans, TriMet is all but guaranteed to be the big commuting story over the next several weeks.

On Saturday, more than 100 people attended a public open house on the plan at the Beaverton Library conference room on Southwest Fifth Street.

According to the transit agency, the discussion focused on (in order) the proposed fare restructuring, then service reduction and, in third place, the state of  “union negotiations.”
