RTD Contract Bus Driver Charged In Passenger's Death - Denver News Story - KMGH Denver

A Denver transit bus driver has been charged with careless driving resulting in death after an exiting passenger leaning on the bus fell under the wheels when the driver pulled away, authorities said on Tuesday.
The victim, 60-year-old Mario Castro, died from his injuries several hours after the Feb. 7 incident, said Lynn Kimbrough, spokeswoman for the Denver District Attorney's Office.The bus driver, Tadese Asefaw, 35, was served a criminal summons and complaint and is scheduled to appear in Denver County Court on March 19 to be formally advised of the charge, Kimbrough said.

This is why you always look in your right mirror BEFORE moving your bus! Perhaps his mirrors werent adjusted properly, I dont know. Being a bus driver 14 years accident free, I always make sure that my mirrors are adjusted before I even move my bus. There are too many mistakes of driver negligence out there. Our system just had a fatality last week that could have been avoided!
