I'd love to see a few of those banners plastered around the 4th and Hall bus stop, on Harrison between 4th and 6th, at 6th and Mill...and ask if Safety is really the core value behind the re-route of bus routes that result in potentially hazardous interactions between pedestrians, bicyclists, cars, buses and MAX trains.

What really necessitated all that was the closure of one bus stop so that it could become a MAX stop (because it was in a desirable location), and not to directly replace it with another good bus stop. The result is having to re-route buses around so that they could stop somewhere. The core value expressed at TriMet in that whole situation was MAX. Not SAFETY. MAX. If SAFETY was #1, TriMet would have had engineers keep a focus on bus stops from day one, and the situation that exists today never would have been allowed to occur.
