WHY IS TRIMET BROKE? DEBT SERVICE-THEY ALWAYS FIND MONEY FOR THIS STUFF

TriMet 700 MHz License Application to RPC-35/700
Element 4—Funding Commitment
On December 11, 2009 The TriMet Board of Directors approved the
awarding of a $38,495,887 contract with INIT INC and its
subcontractors General Electric and Tait Radio Communications,
to replace all TriMet radios. TriMet will issue payroll tax
backed revenue bonds to finance the project. The first bonds
were issued October 2009.

$38,000,000 for radio's they can find, but money to do something about the decrepit bus service on the west side, nope.

Tait Radio Communications?

Apparently nobody talked to Yamhill County to see how well Tait did with their radio upgrade a few years ago (a project that was abandoned, and another company had to basically salvage it at twice the cost and with a tiny fraction of the promised capability).
