Real Trimet incident reports

->Comment=Two weeks ago I took one of your supervisors that was working on 6th and Taylor and showed him the bus stop on Main St. in between 4th and 5th heading west, next to the Multnomah County Court House. I showed him the tree that is just to the east of the covered bench. What he saw was how worn away the roots of this tree are because your bus driver insist on stopping their bus so that the front door is just to the west edge of the covered bench, which puts the back door directly in line with this tree and its roots.
I showed him this because an older woman while getting off of the bus slightly tripped on one of the roots. This is a huge liability issue for Tri-Met. He said thank you and that he would alert drivers that they should pull up to the line that is the designated stop line. This lasted two days. Once again every bus stops so that the back door opens onto this tree. It is not that big a deal for someone young and agile, but you are setting yourselves up for t
rouble. I'm sure that most people would like to not have to negotiate that tree when they get off the bus. I know I would.

Please see custmoer comments below. It sounds like there is a problem with the rear landing at 6th & Taylor when the drivers do not pull up to the designated stop. Can we make sure that they stop in the righ place?

Thanks,

Yes we will make sure this happens. Not sure if shirley got back to you on this or not. I was on vac. last week

Just got another complaint from this customer about buses stopping at an exposed tree root at Main & 4th downtown. (It looks like I may have provided misleading info by referring to "6th & Taylor" in my last message -- it sounds like the problem is actually at Main FS 4th, westbound (downtown) --- sorry). The customer indicates that nothing has changed, but we were going to have a supervisor monitor to make sure the buses stop at beyond the tree root, and send a work order to the City about fixing the tree root.

Can you follow up?

I think I just yesterday sent over Pics, and a work order for main and 4th. Supervisor
wanted to move stop 6' to clear the rear door. This work order and photo's were going
to you so let me know if it is in the wrong place.
===================
The work order to move the bus stop sign 6' forward at Main FS 4th west (LocID 5581) has been completed. This slight move is intended to prevent conflicts between the rear door and a tree.

Yesterday the rider who requested this change complained that drivers are still stopping in the old location where the passengers leaving through the rear door land on tree roots.

Can we continue to monitor this stop and/or do something to ensure that drivers know they need to stop at the new location to prevent conflicts with the tree?
