Trimet supervisory reports (4)

I got a call from dispatcher at about 9:50 am to respond to the operator 5772 who they are responding medical to for an exhaust fume smell on her bus, when I arrived; the rail supervisor J at the scene told me that he had already made contact with the operator and check the bus. I made contact with the operator who told me that the exhaust fume on the bus made her sick. Operator was transported to St. Vincent hospital by AMR #72 and I road call the bus to be check out by the mechanic. I did also check the bus and did not smell anything unusual
.
--------------------------------------
We had the same mix-up problem for our bus stops and the signage, as well as the signs below by the stairs directing folks.

· Buses seemed to be spaced a good distance apart, so that we didn’t encounter gaps longer than 20 minutes.

· The Real-Time Bus tool we use to gauge where buses are since Transit tracker isn’t always reliable was not reliable…but since it was a pretty slow night with the buses maintaining a consistent presence, this did not pose a problem.

· Estimated concert attendance, from our perspective, was around 500-700. Concert ended at 8:05p.

· Bus Zone only parking spaces below the tennis courts should be repainted so they’re more visible; a few different cars parked there until we informed them that they shouldn’t
----------------------------------------
We had several run from us, we could of used police assistance!
-------------------
Operator tripped coming out of Double Tree I did fit check, operator was clear to continue. Controller asked me to pull the train out of Double Tree I did I believed the operator trip because his V-Tag didn’t light up it didn’t light up for me.
--------------------------------
Sunset = E Galleria = J JELD-WEN = B & C

Also had E & M from PPI to help cover Mall/5th & Galleria

· E. served as IC for Field Ops.

· Galleria:

o Scheduled Rail Supervisor called in sick, no replacement assigned.

o G4S officer provided fare sales oversight. Had 1 more officer join us mid-shift.

o TVMs were working.

o Light activity until around 7p, then picked up a bit until almost 8p.

o Very packed trains frustrated some commuters who didn’t have room to board,

o especially for those needing a BL who had a longer wait.

o Train announcements were pretty clear re: end of FRZ, but verbal messaging to

o customers onboard who didn’t hear the recorded messages was somewhat challenging,

o as the doors opened/closed pretty quickly.

o Express Buses were fairly well used, with an average of 10-20 customers each trip (counting both Mall/5th & Galleria).

· JELD-WEN: Still a fair number of citations/warnings being issued to those w/o valid fares.

Post-Event

WB Booth = J EB Booth = B EB Mid-Platform = C

E & M helped direct customers to Express Buses at 18th & Morrison crosswalk

· E. was asked to help with post-event fare sales at Hillsboro Fairplex, due to the Washington County Fair and TVMs not working well at that MAX station. This left 3 of us for post-event at JELD-WEN, so the WB mid-platform entrance was closed. (E’s fare sales at Fairplex = 161)

· Bulk of the crowd came out right around 10p in a pretty big burst. Very busy fare sales!

· Timing of the Extra Service trains maybe could have been better. It seems that they sometimes arrive right before the event breaks or right after most of the crowd has cleared. ???

· Things generally went well from my perspective, despite quite a few folks being fairly heavily intoxicated.
------------------------
Train 9028 violated TO #31 and open doors for short time.

I was able to noticed and yelled all passengers to stay in the train and no passenger were left on the platform EB.
When police officers and G4S units removed all caution tapes around the streets at OCC, I notified control the platforms OCC can be back in service at 1700p. All 4 A-BOARD are removed and placed in the trolley barn at 1710p.
----------------------------------
The only a few issues, one we had to close the IB stops at Capital and BHH, Sunset and Cap, and the next one EB @ Terwilliger and Capital, due to the set up of the course, with temp placed at the crosswalk between the two stops.

And it was hard to get up to the Hospital to post signage due to the closure of Terwilliger line #8 at 8 am, but I threw out Matthews name and was allowed to get there for closures of stops, and told them I was there to do a job not to sight see.

M was very helpful (City Contact) and also stated it has been one hell of an event to plan with the changes that were made up to the beginning of the course.

Once it go started and signed properly it ran ok, but probably will run a bit longer than 4pm, with the city and police picking up cones and barricades.

J and R did a fabulous job for the event.
--------------------------
Clackamas – C Gateway – M Sunset – B & L RQTC – J

· Very well staffed at RQ, with our IC (Annie), 6 Rail Supervisors and 3-4 Transit Police officers for pedestrian safety and security.

· Beth & Lauren made it to Sunset about 45 minutes later than scheduled, due to extra heavy traffic heading west.

· Validator #181 (at Sunset) was out of service

· TVM #27 (at Gateway) was malfunctioning off and on.

Post-Event at RQTC & IRQ:

EB Platform – Julie (PA) & Chris Booth on WB Platform – B IRQ – M & L

· Our IC, Rail Supervisors and G4S Security managed their duties well.

· Most Blazer fans stayed until the game ended. The bulk of the crowd came out between 10:03 and 10:10 pm.

· There were about two dozen stragglers who had to wait 20-30 minutes their train to Gresham, Hillsboro, Parkrose/PDX or Clackamas. ut most everyone seemed patient and understanding, especially for it being a later game.
------------------------
A gentleman in a blue sweatshirt and jeans began pacing the platforms and chanting. A boarded train 15 (our final Westbound with patrons) to monitor his behavior. She wound up requesting 911. Her willingness to attend to this gentleman was greatly appreciated by customers.
Sunset: C and M, Gateway: B, Clackamas: L, Rose Quarter: G. Many TVM issues
o Gateway: validator 38 OOS, TVM 39 OOS
o Sunset: TVM 126 OOS Appeared to be a lighter event with attendance below what is advertised.
Post-Event: Lighter attendance allowed for all Red and Green Line customers to board the 21:32 and 21:36 trains. TVM 301 OOS at IRQ. Validator on northbound platform also out. TransitTracker on Southbound platform OOS. R and B attention to the event is always appreciated and makes for a smooth evening.

Yahoo! No rain!

Pre-Event:

· Lloyd Center MAX station was super busy, with folks not only heading to the Timbers Game, but to the Spring Beer & Wine Fest (at OCC), Nike Hoop Summit (at Rose Garden) and Winterhawks game (at Memorial Coliseum). Thankfully, no security issues this time, and we had 2 G4S Security officers!

· Provided staffing again at Galleria to encourage use of the “Express Bus” and give customers a chance to purchase fares if they hadn’t already done so.

· Did more WB than EB fare sales at JELD-WEN. Quite a few folks arrived there without fares.

Post-Event;

· Redirected a number of MAX riders from WB to EB platform, and vice versa, based on their destinations.

· Despite solid staffing near the crosswalk between the WB & EB platforms--and loud and clear safety announcements via bullhorn–several people crossed in front of EB trains to get to the EB platform.

· The second WB extra service train arrived after most of the crowd had dispersed and could’ve been put to better use if it had arrived a bit sooner.

· Brisk fare sales on both platforms—and a few grumblers who just missed trains and/or didn’t think they should have to pay a fare to ride such a short distance.
