Wtf? They got rid of a perfectly good bus shelter at glisan/broadway. 77 still stops here!
Typical TriMet. Remove bus shelters, but TriMet can pay for new Streetcar stops that don't serve anything (the new stop south of Harrison and north of the OHSU/Tram stop) - complete with shelters, signs, lighting, landscaping, garbage cans, "NextBus" displays - all the bells and whistles.
Isn't it true that the City of Portland pays for the streetcar stops and not TriMet? I know the stop and car cleaners are city workers and not TriMet employees.
And isn't it true, Jason, that TriMet provides the Operators, operational supervisors, dispatchers, track maintenance, and certain vehicle maintenance?
And isn't it true, Jason, that TriMet subsidizes City of Portland Streetcar operations to the tune of nearly $10 million?
I know facts seem to be a challenge for you. Look at TriMet's budget. Look at the TriMet employee database. There's quite a few "Streetcar" employees who receive paychecks issued by TriMet.
And isn't it true, Jason, that TriMet provides the Operators, operational supervisors, dispatchers, track maintenance, and certain vehicle maintenance?
Under contract; and I think the operational supervisors and dispatchers are the same position ("superintendent").

Because it replaces TriMet service and because streetcar allows valid TriMet fare holders to ride at no additional charge (for "free").
There's quite a few "Streetcar" employees who receive paychecks issued by TriMet.
That doesn't mean that 100% of the funding comes from the TriMet general fund and would otherwise go towards bus service.

If the streetcar did not exist, there would most definitely be more bus service.
