Trimess new buses a FLOP!

Remember this?

TriMet rolls out new state-of-the-art buses in Portland on Thursday

Well GUESS WHAT?

The first bus broke down at 8:45am

Only 1 of five is still running at noon!

Will they finnish the day?

 What a joke!

I count TWO. 6 & 12 are on the 72, and have been most of the morning.

I guess that super-intensive "testing period" consisting of the buses sitting in a parking lot off of Columbia Boulevard for a month testing their ability to not melt in the August sun...and then driven to Powell Garage to sit in another parking lot for a couple more months testing their ability to...I guess not melt in the September sun...with a side bonus test of "idling overnight"...turned out to be a success story for TriMet.

Note to TriMet's crack testing department: A heavy duty bus doesn't get much "testing" in a parking lot. Next time, why don't you put the buses in limited service (hey, the 9 bus runs right by Powell's front driveway!) or at least use them for training buses so they at least test in an environment that mimics their role. What's next - testing the air conditioning in January and testing the windshield wipers tomorrow?
