TriMet’s top manager confirmed Wednesday that he’s ready to play for all the marbles against his union.
The transit agency is laying the groundwork for a possible law that would allow transit workers to strike, Neil McFarlane said in an interview. If passed, the change would reverse a 2007 state law that sends transit labor disputes into binding arbitration. This is a less public process that, rather than pitting union and management into a head-to-head battle for the public’s goodwill, gives the key decisions to state-appointed officials.

Man attacked on MAX train in Rose Quarter

CRIME TRAIN KEEPS LIVING UP TO ITS NAME!

PORTLAND -- A man told police he was attacked by three others about 6 a.m. Wednesday on a MAX train near the Rose Quarter.
The men knocked him to the ground and stole items from a backpack, said Sgt. Pete Simpson. The victim traveled on to the Portland State University MAX station where he met with officers.
The victim did not require medical attention, Simpson said.
One of the attackers was described as an African-American man in his mid-20s with some facial hair and wearing a dark blue FUBU-style ski jacket, dark blue beanie, and dark blue pants with a white, embroidered tribal design.

A shift to a flat-fare system

Eliminate the Free Rail Zone
 

Reconfigure 14 bus routes
Eliminate segments of routes that overlap with other routes. This maintains service to an area but requires more transfers on these bus lines: 6, 8, 9, 12, 16, 17, 47, 48, 67, 70, 77, 82, 87 and 89.

Change routing on 3 bus lines
Routes would be modified on lines 43, 45 and 94.

Eliminate bus trips with low ridership on 26 bus lines
This would result in service that begins later in the morning and/or ends earlier in the evening, and may include extended time between trips: 15, 18, 19, 22, 23, 24, 25, 30, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39, 43, 45, 50, 51, 53, 55, 59, 73, 85, 89, 92, 96 and 155.

Eliminate some weekend service with low ridership on 3 bus lines
This would result in all Saturday and/or Sunday service discontinued on lines 22, 32 and 73.

Reduce the frequency of all MAX service except during weekday rush hour

Adjust LIFT paratransit service boundary to match regular transit service

Reduce TriMet contribution to the Portland Streetcar
TriMet helps fund Portland Streetcar operations, and is proposing a $400,000 reduction in FY13 contribution. $400,000 is chump change

Pencil necks that generally don't ride/drive transit are in charge of this mess.
We have to wait to see what they actually do.

It's been my experience that Trimet ALWAYS OVERSTATES its cuts so when 
the final cuts are made it won't look so bad to the public.

Master Race to deliver verdict

Trimet management (master race) will inform the rest of us inferior humanoids their master plan to keep their paychecks nice and fat.

Service cuts/fare increases/cutting health insurance are all "on the table".

What's not "on the table" is cutting executive paychecks, ending the expansion of the empire or cutting luxury service to the lucky few.
