Anybody know what this is all about?

STATE ELDERLY AND DISABLED TRANSPORTATION GRANT APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE


The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) announces the availability of applications for the FY2014 and FY2015 Special Transportation Formula Fund. Sponsored by the Oregon Department of Transportation’s Public Transit Division, this program funds transportation services benefiting the elderly and people with disabilities. Eligible applicants are public and private non-profit agencies with managerial and financial capability providing transportation services for the elderly and people with disabilities.

Funds are limited. The priority for funding is to preserve cost effective transportation services derived from the Tri-County Elderly and Disabled Transportation Plan that are cost effective and coordinated between providers to avoid duplication.

Applications from non-profit firms are due at Ride Connection by 5 PM on December 20, 2013.

Completed applications will be reviewed and ranked by TriMet’s Special Transportation Fund Advisory Committee at a public meeting. There will be time for public testimony at the meetings. Notice of STFAC meetings will be provided at a later date.

What is it? Trimet lift?

No, as LIFT is not non-profit.

I believe this is for social service groups that, say, coordinate a van and drivers that take seniors to certain places. For example, there's the guy that testified to the board awhile back who drives other vets up to the VA Hospital.
