Trimet sells Portland history to St Louis, Neil Berlin protests

Neil Berlin holds Bill Naito's original letter to Zell on the vintage trolley
Neil Berlin gives a passionate presentation in his vain attempt to save a small  piece of Portland history. It was a done deal however. My bet is that Trimet wanted that trolley barn for its max operations and didn't want bother with the trolley's anymore. Seems like the kind of thing this current crop of executives would do.

Well not sure what he was saying really. It was kind of all over but that is how Mr. Berlin converses. I think that is a done deal and to be honest. Where ever they are going they should be buying Mr. Berlin as well. I mean this in the best possible way. That trolley is his life, his love and for mr. Berlin he done not work on any of the days he is operating a trolley. This is a tuff blow to him and I wish Mr. Berlin finds a new love once they go, but is doubtful. I think it I a sad thing to send out. That trolley has been and still part of Portland. Good luck

Neil was also trying to rescue what the Trolly represented other then being a machine. About the era when it was manufactured by people who had pride in their craftsmanship. A work of art, a work of love. He's a collector of antiques and history. He has a right to protest. They took a memory from better times and sold it. A tremendous loss. That he would make the trip down there to speak on behalf of this magnificent piece of Oregon history is a gift.
