C-Tran might as well disband

And become part of Tri-met, apparently that what they really want anyway
Another TriMet Contract - See where they take Clark County Citizens:

Tuesday’s C-Tran action agenda item# 3 authorizes C-Tran to pay $1.727 million to turn over all C-Tran fare collection tasks to Portland TriMet and buy all new fare collection equipment that is only compatible with TriMet's system.

The contract gives TriMet through the end of the year 2020 to finish the project. C-Tran will need to determine how to pay for the service once the transition is complete.

Once control has been transferred to TriMet, the contract states that any future fare system change requests by C-Tran can simply be denied by TriMet. The contract does not allow for termination for convenience. Once signed, the transfer of control is permanent.

The 40 page contract starts on page 80 of this pdf file:

Why would C-Tran turn over all fare system control over to a financially failing out of state transit agency that is not accountable to the citizens of Clark County?

TriMet has said the electronic fare system will be separate from the fare box, so C-TRAN will still collect cash fares as they do today.

buy all new fare collection equipment that is only compatible with TriMet's system.

What other systems are there to be compatible with? Does he think that C-TRAN shouldn't be compatible with TriMet, given the number of riders who use both?

the contract states that any future fare system change requests by C-Tran can simply be denied by TriMet

I highly doubt that's true.
