Why did Mcfarlane declare a war on his employees publicly

There was really no reason whatsoever to take his fight with the union into the public domain. After all both Trimet and ATU had agreed to a binding arbitration methodology. These sorts of disputes become public when there is a threat of a strike.
So why did he do it?

LIGHT RAIL DISRUPTION OF THE DAY

TRIMET park and ride blows up

A car caught on fire in a TriMet park-and-ride lot in Tigard on Tuesday, injuring one person and damaging a total of five vehicles, authorities say.
Witnesses reported explosions and one car engulfed in flames about 2:15 p.m. near Southwest Pacific Highway and 74th Avenue, said Alisa Cour, a Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue spokeswoman.
A man was found injured in the area and was taken to the Oregon Burn Center at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center for treatment, according to Cour. Two vehicles were destroyed and three others had fire-related damages.
No one else was injured. The cause of the fire is under by Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, according to Sgt. Tom Duncan, a Tigard police spokesman. Investigators are still trying to determine if the source of the blaze was suspicious, he said.
The injured man's condition and identity have not been released.

Trimet just can't be truthful.....EVER

The track and switch replacement at Northeast 11th Avenue and Holladay Street will prevent westbound MAX trains from running between the Lloyd Center and Rose Quarter stations between Aug. 11 and Aug. 15. Meanwhile, eastbound trains will not run between the Oregon Convention Center and Lloyd Center platforms, TriMet said.
TriMet said riders should expect the work to add 10 to 15 minutes to their commutes.
MAX riders will be able to take shuttle buses running between stations. Also, shuttles will run between the Interstate Rose Quarter and Lloyd Center MAX stations for Green Line riders going to or from downtown Portland.

Obviously adding a half hour onto your trip planning would be the wise thing to do. Trimet is unable to be truthful about anything, ever.

Max riders to endure 4 days of hell

Good old unreliable light rail,

Monday, August 11-15, crews will replace a MAX track switch located in the intersection of NE 11th Avenue and Holladay Street. MAX will not run between Rose Quarter/Convention Center and Lloyd Center/NE 11th Ave MAX stations.
TriMet: Lloyd District MAX and Bus Service Disruption

I had a Trimet adventure today-part 1

Off to the Washington County Fair. Always brings back memories when I get on the Trimet system

The pure stupidity of street cars

With Detroit suffering from massive population loss and an inability to keep up its basic infrastructure (see the water crisis, or the city's many non-functioning traffic lights) it certainly seems odd to be spending tens of millions of dollars on a short new streetcar line. But while Jim Epstein's Reason article asking "Is Detroit's New Light Rail Line America's Greatest Boondoggle?" raises many good points about the project, the sad reality is that it's not even close to being the most egregious boondoggle going. The current fad for streetcar construction is actually bequeathing quite a large number of terrible projects to the country. And the very worst of these — like Washington, DC's maybe-opening-soon streetcar line — aren't just expensive, they actually make mass transit worse. And bad transit helps trap poor people in poverty.
The original sin of every bad streetcar program is this: it doesn't have a dedicated lane.
Without a dedicated lane, a streetcar can't really run much faster than a bus under ideal conditions. And since unlike a bus, a streetcar can't shift out of its lane to avoid an obstacle, in real-world circumstances it's likely to move slower than a bus. There are some objectives related to real estate development and tourism that this kind of project can serve, but they're nearly useless in terms of transportation.

Why in the world did they rip up all the seats at the Sunset TC?

Talk about rude and inconsiderate this is it. Taking out every seat while  working on the platform? That's incredible

More useless Light Rail propaganda

Why would anybody care about this?
The barrage of pro light rail propaganda never ends in this city. And it works, people slowly loose their ability to think straight on this issue under the constant bombardment. This huge government boondoggle project to put in the light rail to a town of 20,0000 should make people hopping mad actually. It was totally unnecessary and basically useless.

Look at this ridiculous story about a 'pedestrian crossing' as if that is something that is worthy of any news coverage at all.
