How Trimet distorts statistics

According to this graphic 80% of Portland  residents consider themselves Trimet riders. Obviously they have found some way to distort responses to give them the answer they wanted.
The truth is that 6% of commuters use Trimet. You can't trust anything that comes from the Trimet marketing department. It's unbelievable that they can get away with this type of phony media release.

Those are measuring two different things. The first is measuring how many people in the TriMet district TriMet ride at all. The second is measuring how many people in the greater region primarily commute by transit.

It is true that the 80% includes those who ride less than once a month; 41% of respondents to the survey ride a couple times a month or more and 19% ride at least several times a week.
