What about the billion and a half dollar MYSTERY TRAIN? I guess that gets fully funded because it's RAIL CAPITAL PROJECTS and without that money coming in YOU MIGHT GET THE BOOT RIGHT OUTTA HERE!
Let's see.
ReplyDeleteCut MAX? Nope, how dare we cut MAX.
Cut management? Nope, those managers are essential.
Cut Streetcar subsidies? No, we have a "contract".
Cut WES? It needs more time to gain ridership.
So...ladies and gentlemen, I present to you TriMet's Official Budget Process:
1. Are there any new buses on order? If so, cancel the order.
2. Are there still bus lines in existence? Cut them (unless cutting them would result in a mandated reduction in TriMet's taxing district, then leave them in place.)
3. Keep doing #1 and #2 until there is not a single bus owned or operated by TriMet.
4. If #3 is accomplished, then declare bankruptcy or find some other process to remain solvent. Under no circumstances shall any non-bus options be considered.
