Help Bus Riders Unite Hold TriMet Accountable!

OPAL and BRU will be taking to the streets the last week of August to raise awareness of the historic and unjust fare increases that will take effect on September 1.  We will also be expressing our appreciation for bus drivers, who are being unfairly blamed for TriMet’s management problems, and appreciating all our fellow bus riders, who are the engine of our system.  We need your help to keep this issue front and center in the public's consciousness, so please email Hector hector@opalpdx.org or Myrna myrna@opalpdx.org or call the office for more information on how to join the BRU Action Committee and help us plan for these events.
(I really need to get more involved with these folks but they seem to be doing just fine without me)

  1. I appreciate OPAL and their BRU program, "To raise awareness," as we know the Transit District will do very little else than their email campaign ahead of the massive changes slated to become effective on Sept 2 (Fare increases on Sept 1, service cuts on Sept 2).

I just wish they would do something even more productive like help gather signatures for our petition to, "LET THE PEOPLE ELECT OUR TRANSIT BOARD!" If they're handing out flyers, they could include a link to the petition if they wanted to really have an impact on the future of our Transit District.

  2. To Al, OPAL Members, ATU Members, and Cameron:

    As Mahatma Gandhi noted,

"First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win."

    You are making a difference.
