Trimet would never pay a 'union' employee to do this-you can do it for free for them
Why doesn't TriMet contract out MAX platform cleaning and landscaping? TriMet has a whole staff of landscapers and I never, ever see them mow the grass around a bus stop. TriMet even owns its own garbage trucks, but they don't pick up the garbage at bus stops.
Why doesn't TriMet contract with temp workers to set up "Rider Alert" signs every time TriMet feels the urge to change a route number for no reason other than to screw with the riders?
Why doesn't TriMet contract out MAX platform cleaning and landscaping?
Maybe because there's a union contract that doesn't allow it?
I never, ever see them mow the grass around a bus stop.
Maybe because that's not TriMet property? But I'm pretty sure I have seen them at Barbur TC.
Why doesn't TriMet contract with temp workers to set up "Rider Alert" signs
Maybe because they have office/other workers they can send out? Not to mention that temp workers (especially if it involved an outside agency) would have to be monitored and would not best understand how to do the job (e.g. which signs go where).
no reason other than to screw with the riders?
Are you sure route changes don't ever provide any benefit, such as providing better clarity? Also, usually there's a lot more than just a number change.
Actually, I think there was a dispute involving, I believe, Boy Scouts cleaning shelters.
ReplyDeleteBut routine bus shelter cleaning is done by contractors and not TriMet employees.
then why do they ask for volunteers to do it?
ReplyDeleteBecause volunteers are even cheaper than the contractors, and probably do more in-depth work then them.
