"Living Together" at TriMet

Living Together Guidelines December 2012

As Moving Together transitions into “Living Together”, TriMet’s commitment to an efficient,
flexible and technologically improved business environment becomes a reality. These are
guidelines for all employees upon relocation to the improved work spaces at Harrison Square
and Center Street and should be used as the model for all of our facilities. It reflects a work
environment that supports wellness, collaboration and productivity.
Workplace Principles
• Safety Ensure individual and common work spaces do the utmost to create an “injury free”
environment.
• Productivity Allocate resources to promote employee productivity that benefits customers.
• Wellness Promote employee health and well-being.
• Collaboration Foster collaboration and productivity by enabling access and interaction between team
members. This means spaces are well-planned and appropriately equipped for flexible use. Shared
experiences are increased and improved through a higher level of surrounding awareness and crosssocialization.
• Efficiency/Sustainability Promote energy efficiency and sustainability. This includes the use of space
and cost of real estate. Improve access to natural light in more work spaces. Implement an open, flexible
design that will adapt to changes in storage and seating over time. Encourage and facilitate use of
electronic tools and a reduction in paper storage.
• Environment Use “The Golden Rule” in personal and common work spaces. Be respectful of the
activities and people around you.
