HARRY SAPPORTA FAIL

"I don't see anything unsafe" I don't see anything unsafe" "Harry want a cracker"
Mcfarlane crony Sapporta is like a parrot, "i don't see anything unsafe" he says, well there were 3 police calls to Trimet in less than an hour today

  1. Sapporta does not "see" anything unsafe, because he's holed up in his air conditioned window office down at First & Harrison with a great view of the City of Portland Streetcar stop, instead of actually going out and seeing the TriMet bus system.

Maybe if he saw how buses coming off of S.W. Barbur Boulevard had to cross two lanes from Naito Parkway, to make the stop at Hamilton outbound...he'd wonder. Or how buses continue to have to make double lane changes from the stop at 4th and Hall inbound. Or how buses have an obstructed view when exiting the Tigard TC, and buses turning right onto Commercial frequently cross the centerline. Or how buses frequently cannot turn out of the Barbur TC because of traffic congestion, and buses often have to travel down the center lane. Or how buses that have to turn right onto the Transit Mall frequently run red lights despite signage clearly stating "NO TURN ON RED". And how there are continuing vehicle-pedestrian conflicts that are increased due to poor bus routing.

But he can't see anything wrong, because all he sees is the Streetcar out his cushy office.

How do you know if he has that?

coming off of S.W. Barbur Boulevard had to cross two lanes from Naito Parkway, to make the stop at Hamilton outbound

Measuring on Google Earth, there is ~800 feet to make that maneuver, which is well more than the minimum

Or how buses continue to have to make double lane changes from the stop at 4th and Hall inbound.

Over 800 feet from Hall to Mill, plenty of room

buses turning right onto Commercial frequently cross the centerline

Not sure if that's a safety issue if there's no oncoming traffic

    "NO TURN ON RED"

This is covered in the SOP.

    poor bus routing

Where exactly, and what better, feasible options do you have?

Lastly, you still haven't responded to my other replies to your comments here.
