Trimet's false dilema and the fare app

Author: current employee

Concerning some of your recent posts about the new fare app , the part of the story that you haven't highlighted is that TriMet continues to neglect ways of fare collection that would be easier for the operator. Number 1 they have not bothered to install fare machines on the bus that self operate as far as scanning someone's existing transfer or printing a new one. Number 2 the cards that are being used like in London San Francisco and about to go in Vancouver where the customer loads money on to the card and taps it on the fair box when boarding and deboarding. Both of these systems take the operator out of the equation thus allowing the operator 2 focus more on safety and driving. Instead as I said TriMet continues 2 find more Ways  2 over burden the operators . This is such A consistent pattern that its hard to imagine
that added added stress on the drivers is an intentional m.o. of management and that safety is simply a false slogan and indeed propaganda.

  1. My only comment is that safety has always been just a slogan.
