This is the explanation of why they tore up the old Transit mall
Nah, I think it was ridership numbers; which was blown up and inacurate, giving them federal grants based on bloaded numbers, take it away and the federal dollars comes back at true ridership levels. Possible threat of yanking funding. HB
Nah, just look at the Green line; they projected huge ridership numbers, when in reality the number didn't bear out and the DOT almost pulled its funding. Its always been about money, but you have to do it the right way in order to keep the pipe-line open. HB

Nah the reality is they were offered hundreds of millions of dollars to tear it up. It's all about the money.
