Portland ranks 16 worst traffic in North America
Hahah, pretty funny if you ask me. Bicycle loving transit riding Portland is 16 out of 60 worst traffic areas in all of North America! Tom Tom HERE!
It's been mentioned by Joe Rose, among others I think, that TomTom is measuring the wrong statistic. See http://www.oregonlive.com/commuting/index.ssf/2014/06/portland_traffic_ranked_ninth.html
Specifically, that and other studies only measure amount of delay which penalizes shorter commutes--it considers a 20 minute commute w/5 minutes of delay equal to an hour commute with 15 minutes of delay.

So your saying that Tom Tom is being too kind...
ReplyDeleteWhat makes joe rose an expert
ReplyDeleteCause he has a larger audience then you do.
ReplyDeleteSo you comparing joes small column size to larger empirical data studies that contradict him.
