The Trimet way

Last night my supervisor want us to pull all the fare boxes. We normally skip the trippers just to keep the line moving. So the line went from Center Street all the way down to Powell Boulevard last night. Shelly Lomax saw the line and called the director of maintenance at home. Tonight the garage manger told me to go back to the old way. Some operators were waiting in line for 50 minutes. It went on from 6 to 8:30 last night. I guess they should watch what they wish for. Lol

Road supervisors were directing buses to go down center street side by side from 17th

  1. Its interesting they do this on pull in. We just pull in and park it, then they come thru and drive it thru the wash (if on they get washed), empty trash and dump fareboxes, but its after we've left.

  2. Interesting indeed! But as you know Seattle metro has two or three times the number of buses as Portland

  3. And they get serviced every night! We just have a staff than can drive and wash/fuel/farebox them in about 5m time.

  4. Except the trolleys of course, they don't get fueled, they are always fueled from above ;)

  5. Do you still stop at a spotter (or whoever) to get a parking assignment?

Having the service workers here ("shaggers") empty the fare boxes would add an extra task for them, but if the vaults were in line with the fuel and wash I don't see why they couldn't do it.

Oh, and yes this did happen: https://twitter.com/trimetscanner/status/517867012270206977
