Trimet pretended like there was a genuine contest to name the new bridge. Insiders knew that was a joke but the unsuspecting public actually thought Trimet really wanted input. Kirk Reeves won the contest! The bridge was given a name worthy of Trimet propagandists, "bridge of the people".
The truth is that the new bridge would have been appropriately name BRIDGE OF THE OLIGARCHS  because that is exactly what it was
