Trimet security fail

  1. Good luck with that. If it's posted no trespassing near the gate entrance and a security camera sees you from any bus facing the gate, your fucked :(

Oh, and most of those new bus cameras are all high definition and very tattoo identifying friendly.

  2. "A security camera sees you from any bus facing the gate"

Let's see. I throw on my balacava so that my face is covered. Wear a generic looking jacket, hat, jeans and shoes. Run in as quickly as I can, take the bus and drive it off. In and out in about 45 seconds.

All the cameras are going to show is some guy wearing a face mask (that I purchased at Costco for $15), and no other identifying marks.

I take the bus to a rural, remote location, pull the license plates off and remove the TriMet marks.

Congratulations, I own one of a large number of plain white New Flyer buses that are virtually indistinguishable from another plain white New Flyer bus.

  3. There's also the CAD/AVL which can be used to track the bus if the person doesn't successfully disable it.

But I think someone would notice and possibly question a TriMet bus being where they usually don't go, especially if not driven by somebody in uniform.

  5. A person could steal a bus anytime an operator is taking a bathroom break..this is a ridiculous non-story

  7. This is the most ridiculous story ever. Anytime a bus is unattended anywhere in the Metro area anyone can steal it. Why is the garage such a big deal? Al, has there ever been a bus stolen? Curious to know.

  10. Those incidents happened before the rise of the Internet so there is no actual documentation about them available to the public
