May's weird TriMet service alerts

NOTE: Many of these alerts were written by dispatchers who are not expected to be language experts, may not have time to proofread, and make mistakes like all humans.  They may have many other tasks in progress at the moment, such as dealing with buses that are already stuck due to the blockage or situations elsewhere.  While those errors probably should be forgiven, they can cause confusion or problems for those who try to follow them.


Also, to whoever manages the script that edits the detours for public posting, I've been seeing a lot of "regular route right" and I'm thinking the "rt" in e.g. "reg rt" is getting incorrectly expanded separately to "right".

["continue Thurman" isn't valid for trips coming from Montgomery Park or Yeon]

The elevators at the 82nd MAX station are out of service. Maintenance has been notified.

["right Sandy" should really be "veer right ramp towards Sandy, veer right again, left Sandy" as you can't turn directly onto Sandy]

#15 Due to a data processing error, stop 5394 (9200 Block SE Stark) will not display correctly in TransitTracker or the trip planner until June 7. To get an idea of when your bus will arrive use the following stop (Stark & 90th, ID 5503).

[it seems they could have used 178th instead of going all the way to 170th, saving 16 blocks each trip]

[198th in the first two instances should really be 197th, also the route actually jogs on Rock Road there]

#83 Line 83 operator, the Washington Park Shuttle is regular route Tri-met Fare and it is also posted at the service stops. Please charge accordingly, Thank you, Wendy.

#12 Line 12 Parkrose to Portland: Regular route to Sandy and 33rd then left 33rd, right Glisan, right 31st, left Sandy & regular route until clear.

[it would be better if buses to Portland could use the same routing as to Parkrose (but turn directly onto Wasco from Sandy) as it is much shorter than going down to Glisan]

#52 Line 52 to PCC. Regular route to Farmington and Kinnaman, right Kinnaman, right 185th and regular route Kill time on 185th if this makes you early.

#19 Line 19. Construction closed signs at 32nd and Knapp are for autos only. Buses can go thru.

#58 Line 58 inbound Use Market st Exit right 12th right Columbia and follow outbound detour.
#58 Line 58 outbound regular route Columbia and 18th continue Columbia right 13th right Clay to Hwy 26 outbound and regular route.
[should be "left 12th" and note that the Market St exit is from Sunset Hwy, also it's not possible to directly follow the outbound detour as the inbound detour bypasses both 18th and 13th; I'm guessing buses were maybe supposed to make a full loop on Columbia and Jefferson, if so outbound it should start "to Jefferson and 18th, left around Collins Circle into Columbia]

#20 Line 20 Westbound: the Regular route STOP at 60th is closed AND the temporary STOP has been removed also! Passengers will need to use either stop before or after. UNTIL: 3p.

#4 Due to a data processing error, stop 3976 (N Mississippi and Skidmore) will not display correctly in TransitTracker or the trip planner until further notice. To get an idea of when your bus will arrive use the previous stop (Mississippi and Mason, ID 3966).

MAX service is now severely impacted due to police activity involving the May Day marches and protests in Portland. MAX trains are unable to run through Portland City Center. Expect significant delays. Shuttle bus service are not possible as buses are also significantly delayed.
