Sending FOUR police officers to arrest a nonviolent blogger accused of harassment at his place of employment is simply the long arm of the Police State showing its clumsy, puppet-stringed hand.
Ask yourself, is this the response you’d get from the police if you told them someone was sending you too many texts asking you hard, unthreatening questions about your public conduct? Transit riders get greased in this process too, but not to their benefit.
Lane has been targeted by TriMet for reprisal. When Lane exposed himself to liability via texting, TriMet used its privileged connections to the prosecutor and police to bring the hammer down. The response to Lane was not designed to correct behavior but to punish, to limit Lane’s future opportunities in life, and send the usual message to activists: sit down and shut up, or else. That’s what happens in a Police State when you threaten the status quo as established by the elites, the powerful and the wealthy.

A two-car train of Siemens S70 light rail cars on the MAX system, operated by TriMet, the transit agency serving the Portland metropolitan area. 

A blogger who persisted in asking questions that the development agency doesn't like has been arrested by TriMet transit cops and had his laptop and cell phone confiscated. His "crime"? Demanding answers from the agency in the days following the shooting death of a boy at a light rail platform. TriMet PR chicks refused to respond to his questions regarding transit safety, and so he programmed his SMS to text one of them repeatedly. Apparently, as far as the TriMet development agency is concerned, that's a crime meriting physical detention and confiscation of the blogger's electronics.
It's bogus on many fronts: no threats were made; a question was texted repeatedly (and automatically). Was the blogger being a jerk? Possibly, but that's not a crime. TriMet's head mouthpiece, Mary Fetsch, falls back upon a claim often deployed by Democratics who don't want to answer questions: "A blogger is not a "real" journalist."
Sorry, Mary, but that's not your call.
These folks think that they can dictate every aspect of everybody's lives, and it's time to take them down a few notches. Personally, I advocate cutting them off at the ankles. They really stepped in it this time.

That another thing Lane has been useful in helping us all to remember - these people are "Officials" of a supposed "Public Service". ORS 267 tacitly allows TriMet to act as a private transportation company that has no direct accountability to, or transparency for the people of this community. None of its Board of Directors or top officers are elected, or in any other way held to account except through the media, and particularly alternative press like Rantings, Portland Afoot, and Portland Transit Lane. If TriMet is also allowed to define who is a journalist, then they control their propaganda in the corporate media.

Trimet co-workers:  There's a file in your personnel records called ERC. It's a list of comments and interactions with Supervisors.  You have to go through public records then pay a fee. Mine was $19.23. Kinda a bullshit thing right there having to pay for yer own file.  Nevertheless, I suggest everyone get a copy, make sure you're sitting down, have a bottle of booze or some good sedatives handy.  I don't drink anymore but did do in a chocolate bar. :)  My guess is they're counting on the fact we won't know of it's existence so they say some pretty horrendous things, things that aren't true, conversations that never happened.

From this point forward, there will be no more blog posts for an undetermined amount of time. I may come back, I may not. Take out the 'art' at Gresham and everything will be OK according the the brain trust that exists at Trimet headquarters. What did they spend on this? $25k I believe. 
Wouldn't it make a tiny bit more sense to actually have some sort of security present at some of the more widely used Transit centers like the one at Gresham? Even 7-11 stores hire 24 hour security guards, 'real' transit cities have 'station agents' keeping an eye on things at major stations including dealing with ticket machine problems, but here in the Trimetlandia, their answer is to take out the fake living room.
 They just don't have a clue.

Anybody who understands the daily operation of the transit system can see quite clearly that MAX delays are constant and ongoing.

So how is it possible that Trimet publishes monthly statistics that claim MAX performance is always 80% or higher?

Here is your answer, they turn them around,which basically eliminates entire trips but it does appear that the MAX is now on time. In laymen terms that would be called 'cheating'

According to an audio clip tweeted by TriMet Scanner, the train operator said he was leaving the Expo Center when the accident happened.

"At the 45 MPH sign, when I was speeding up, a deer jumped out in front of the train," he said, according to an audio clip of the scanner transmission.

WHAT HAPPENS TO RIDERS WHO IGNORE EXCLUSION ORDERS?

I've heard so many instances of people ignoring exclusion and fare evasion orders I decided to do some investigating in regards to penalties for these repeat offenders. I got an attorney to look into this for me.

I have noticed multiple repeat offenders that are supposedly excluded from the transit system in Portland Oregon get caught on the system during their exclusion. I can't find the penalty for ignoring transit fines and interdiction commands. Are those penalties listed somewhere? Can you serve real time in jail for ignoring transit fines and exclusions?

Assuming someone has been validly excluded by Trimet (including service of a notice of exclusion with a right to a hearing to challenge the exclusion), a person could potentially be charged with the crime of trespass, which is a misdemeanor. Depending on criminal history, the circumstances of the particular case, and bad luck, someone could be sentenced to serve some jail time for trespass (although most trespass cases in Portland do not involve jail time). The trespass statutes are in Oregon Revised Statutes chapter 164, if you want more information on this.

Which is also known as 'transit oriented development' and its almost a religion in the Portland area. Although Portland likes to think of itself as thinking this up its actually thought up by some much bigger central planners than we have here in the peoples republic of Portlandia. The money to pull off this grand design all comes from big daddy the federal government so that should give you some idea of the type of top policy makers that are involved with this.


Basically here is the idea, you "pack em" into vehicles that can pack as many humans as possible into it.

Light rail fits the bill for the 'pack em' philosophy since buses cant pack as many humans into a small space as a light rail vehicle can. Light rail is accomplished using eminent domain power of the government demolishing whatever is in its way.

The you "stack them" into these types of properties that are developed along these rail lines. Here in Portland most of the properties that have been developed in NW Portland were homes before the were demolished by developers. Developers who by the way make a tidy fortune in this process.

Big long rows of these types of buildings fit the 'stack em' scheme of transit oriented development.

After all this is accomplished multiple fortunes are made by those involved with  the construction, and there is plenty of construction contracts with nice profit margins built into them for the principals.

MURDER ON THE MAX

PORTLAND, Ore. - An 18-year-old was arrested Thursday in connection with a shooting at a TriMet transit station earlier this month that left one person dead and another injured.

Silvano Velasquez is facing charges of murder, attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon and first-degree assault.

The shooting happened Oct. 11 at the MAX station at Southeast 93rd and Holgate.

Abukar Madey, 15, died of a gunshot wound to the head and a second victim, 22-year-old Lucio Alejandro Ramirez-Navarra, a.k.a. Alex Ramirez, survived after being shot several times.

BRUCE HANSEN SAYS BART STRIFE SHOULD BE CAUTIONARY TALE FOR TRIMET

“The tragedy of two deaths in the San Francisco BART strike has its origins in the same management attitudes we see demonstrated by TriMet’s top level management,” says Bruce Hansen, president of the Amalgamated Transit Union. He’s referring to the death of two BART workers, struck by a train being operated by a manager driving during a labor strike. The BART workers were on strike primarily because of work rule changes, benefit takeaways and safety issues. That strike ended last night when the company and the union reached a tentative agreement.

The strike happened because BART’s management team proposed many changes in work rules and employee benefits. Just like TriMet, the management team contended that the transit agency’s workers held relatively unskilled positions, were overpaid, and did not deserve their benefits. “When I read BART’s public relations push, I thought I was reading a Portland newspaper,” says Hansen.
