The fueling guy just turned his back to me...that's fine I didn't need him in the picture but he had a job to do so I wasn't about to tell him to move, I just got what I wanted, he's doing what he needed to do, and frankly he seemed a little interested at the wrap too. The verification phase of the Dependent Eligibility Audit is beginning. During this phase you will need to verify the eligibility of all the dependents remaining on your TriMet health care plan. This means you will have to supply documentation, like tax returns, marriage and/or birth certificates, for each of your eligible dependents by Aug. 3, 2012. On or around June 30, you will receive a list of acceptable documents and step by step procedures in the mail. Make sure to review the eligibility requirements, provide documentation verifying your dependents and confirm the audit of your dependents is complete. Documents can be mailed, faxed or uploaded through Mercer’s website.

Due to the Portland-Milwaukie Light Rail project, the current Operations Command Center at Ruby Junction will no longer be big enough to support the rail addition. Holgate Plaza, currently housing Service Planning and Scheduling, Transportation Training and Safety and Security will need to be demolished for the project. On Wednesday, the Board of Directors approved a lease for two floors of Harrison Square, an office building located at SW 1st Avenue and Harrison Street, where most employees from divisions other than operations will report to work as of February 2013. Eventually, the OCC, Operations, Safety and Security, IT and Customer Service will be consolidated at Center Street. New, smaller cubes will be used in both Harrison Square and Center Street, along with fewer offices to promote a more collaborative work environment and save money by reducing square footage needed for the lease.

THE CASE OF THE BULLIED BUS MONITOR PARALLELS THE LIFE OF A BUS DRIVER
And if the offender leaves before the 'authorities' arrive there is no further action taken against them, unless of course they actually used some sort of violence against you. They can come back another day and do it all over again.
School bus drivers even have less control over the situation as they are prohibited from removing students from the bus.

The real scoop of the latest baby bus incident
Ok here is the REAL SCOOP, can’t tell you how I know it but it’s true.
The woman got on the bus with her 3 kids and sat down.
After a few minutes the driver asked to see the fares.
One of the kids went up with some VERY expired transfers.
Claudine told her that they were no good and she needed to pay fare.
The woman went nuts on Claudine.
Another man inside the bus intervened on the side of Claudine. The woman went nuts on him. He somehow got a cop to come over and take control of the situation.
The cops got the situation under control and asked Claudine if would take the mom to Forest Grove.
Claudine said no, the police then removed the woman off the bus and took her to where she needed to go.
Additionally, after the last incident Claudine was checked ride over and over. She was also had secret riders check on her over and over. All the reports on her behavior were positive.

Dispatch says its Ok to take bike inside!
I never thought that would be possible. Of course senior drivers do it all the time (myself included when I was driving at Trimet) but you DO NOT call dispatch and ask! Just take it on and be careful! I never had an incident and must have done it 100 times in 15 years.

TRIMESS CUTTING ROUTES AND BENEFITS-BUT EXPANDING MANAGERS OFFICES
TriMet is considering moving 248 administrators and other staffers who work at the transit agency's Southeast 17th Avenue headquarters to a downtown site near Portland State University.
TriMet's board will consider a measure that would move staffers to Harrison Square, at 1800 S.W. First Avenue, at its Wednesday board meeting. The move could cost at least $17.4 million, according to Business Journal reporter Andy Giegerich.

Congratulations on Winning!
I got a blank piece of TriMet stationary.
I shouldn't complain because, well, it was free...but I just have a really empty feeling about this. No "Thanks for riding TriMet?" No "We hope to see you on WES soon?" Nope. Just empty space.
At least the monthly pass will go to a deserving person who can use it. I have an annual pass so I clearly don't need it.

I knew that I was making fun of my employer, and that sort of behavior is always risky. So I disguised my stuff as humor. Starting June 23 and lasting for about a month, private utility crews will be working on SE Center St between the Brooklyn Yard (east of TriMet's Center St facility) and Milwaukie Ave. Northbound lines 17 and 70 will continue to use Center St. There will be intermittent lane closures. Pedestrian access and access to the parking lot will be maintained. Watch for flaggers.

On Wednesday, June 13, the TriMet Board adopted our budget for next year – and the vote was unanimous. The Board heard testimony from 52 people, mostly organized by the group OPAL. The Board’s actions balanced the budget – eliminating the projected $12 million/year gap. You all have heard me say – and I repeat here – that another $5 million in possible service reductions or fares will be required if TriMet management loses the ATU 757 arbitration. We’ll face that as necessary after July 31st – when we expect the arbitrator’s decision.

Leverage, a popular cable TV show filmed in Portland, recently filmed scenes for an upcoming episode in the LRV paint room at Ruby Junction and at the Washington Park MAX Station. A lot of TriMet employees were involved in the planning and facilitation of the filming, and Leverage will be reimbursing TriMet for the their time and the use of our facilities.

But the exposure has had a darker side, too:
thousands of furious and sometimes threatening e-mails directed at
Richardson and other officials in the Greece Central School District and
the town of Greece and death threats and other harassment directed at
students alleged to have participated in the incident.
"We
are obviously as emotional as everyone else who has watched this
horrible and disturbing video," said Barbara Deane-Williams,
superintendent of Greece schools. "As a mom, I can assure you, however,
that the enraged response directed at these students and my staff is
equally as unsettling. Expressing hatred is not an effective way to
resolve this."
The names of some of the
alleged perpetrators — all juveniles who have yet to be charged with any
crimes — and their parents and details about where they live ended up
online. And since Wednesday, they've been barraged by death threats and
harassing phone calls.

OPAL getting ready to change tactics
The $458 million budget for 2013 passed by the TriMet board of directors June 13 largely brushed aside an alternative budget from riders’ advocacy group OPAL Environmental Justice Oregon. OPAL president Jonathan Ostar says his organization will push for greater accountability by taking away the governor’s authority to appoint TriMet board members. Ostar says Metro, with its regionally elected council, should have that authority instead. Such a change would require an act of the Legislature. TriMet’s new budget raises fares, cuts services and ends the free rail zone Sept. 1. “I think there were some board members that came in with their minds made up, just ready to mail it in,” Ostar says....

The case of the missing Trimet bus!
A bus went missing last night. After an exhaustive search it was found.
Long involved incident with 16 year old girl last night
This a very interesting dispatch call. Amazing how far TRIMET went for this 16 year old girl who got scared by some guy at a bus stop. Then we even see the 16 year old talking directly to dispatch over the bus radio, something I thought was never done. In any event, its interesting for dispatch geeks.

Imagine Trimet without buses
Mechanical problems have interrupted service for TriMet’s WES Wilsonville-to-Beaverton commuter rail trains.
TriMet officials said just before 7 a.m. that
shuttle buses would be used instead of the trains for the final runs of
the morning commute.
WES carries passengers from Wilsonville through
Tualatin and Tigard to the Beaverton Transit Center, where they can
catch the westside MAX to either Portland or Hillsboro.
