With more riders come more demands. Wi-Fi availability is at the top of the list for an increasing number of riders. SinglePoint, a Wi-Fi solutions company, illustrates the demand for Wi-Fi on public transportation in the infographic below.
According to the infographic, technology use on buses has nearly doubled since 2009. Almost half of all riders say Wi-Fi availability is important to them when making travel plans. With an average commute taking 25 minutes, there is plenty of time for riders to entertain themselves with cell phone calls, music and Wi-Fi.

His PERS pension is $10,600 a MONTH!
And like most ridiculous pensioners that is not enough money for him so he makes more in his own business

 

THE ABSURDITY OF PUBLIC SERVICE EMPLOYMENT

This was passed on to me by a current Trimet employee.
A bus driver used his bus in a reckless manner.
While the pin heads at Trimet 'investigated'  the driver was put on 'administrative leave' with full pay.
The driver was on paid leave for two weeks.
At the conclusion of the 'investigation' the driver was handed a one day suspension.
A two week paid vacation for the price of one day?
I always found it curious how it actually pays to be a fuck up at Trimess.

Meanwhile, the City of Porkland has backed off the previous transportation bureau decision to do no road maintenance for the next five years. So they've set aside a whopping $500,000 to throw some asphalt sealer down on a few streets. Isn't that special?
Oddly, that's the same amount that Porkland City Council was going to spend each year on fluoridating the water supply - not counting the $5 million they were going to spend on building a fluoridation facility. Since that plan got decisively shot down by voters, you might think they could scrape together a little more cash for road repairs, but you'd be wrong. More bioswales, maybe.

Do you think its a mistake that the management did nothing to make sure retirees contracts were upheld in their retirement?  Do you think its just an accident that Mcfarlane and his cronies seek to vilify the work force by implying we are getting 'more than we deserve'?
All the while the cheating lying executives have pots of gold waiting for them when they get through robbing tax payers as they retire with fortunes.

So, posting a pretty picture, and a lot of cameras at MAX stations, are going to help reduce operator assaults...

Yet, a very significant number of 1400, 1600, 1700, 1800 and 1900 series buses lack - after all these years - cameras on board...and how many more years will these buses remain in service?

How many bus layover areas are equipped with cameras?  How many cameras are located at the Tigard Transit Center, as just one of many examples?  None.  Washington Square TC?  None.  Tualatin P&R?  None.  Lake Oswego TC?  None.  Yet, MAX and WES platforms have loaded up on cameras.

While employed at Trimet I was subjected to various psychological tortures via the management such as 'the meeting'.
"The meeting' is when you are summoned to sit before the 'managers' for a crime that you have committed but they don't bother telling you specifically what it is they want to see you about.
They generally tell you about this 'meeting' on a Friday afternoon so you can stew on it all weekend.
It's completely intentional.  Newbies watch and learn, this could be something you have to face in the future.
Trimet had a special place in its heart for my torture, they spent years trying to intimidate me.
In this first meeting, Fred Hansen was still in charge and I still had Peggy Hansen as the Director of transportation. Things were still fun then. Things really changed for the worse when Mcfarlane the knife took over.You can see at this time I was still allowed to drive and film, with restriction.
But after I did those three videos, I found out who I was dealing with, even then, a bunch of liars.
Remember newbies, FACE TO FACE MEETINGS ARE NOTHING BUT TRAPS, they are attempting to trick you into entrapping yourselves! The managers routinely lie, remember that!

Although I was the poster boy for distracted driving, I had a PERFECT SAFETY RECORD! 15 straight years of perfect driving!

A bus driver in Mississauga, Ontario, was suspended for five days last month for taking time to use the bathroom while on duty. Another in Portland, Oregon, was brutally stabbed while using a portable toilet installed as a makeshift driver bathroom facility.

At Trimet if you take to many sick days, even if you have plenty of sick time, you start getting threats from the management to show up or get fired.
What happens is that many operators come to work in a safety sensitive job in an impaired state.
Trimet is basically forcing drivers to work WHILE IN A DRUNKEN STATE
This is Trimet safety, it DOES NOT exist.

I actually have first hand knowledge of a driver who past out after being forced to come to work. Luckily she was off the bus when that happened.

A: A similar question was asked previously but we want to help clear up any confusion. With the existing contract expired, TriMet started passing along the increased cost of health care to union employees as of January 1, in accordance with Oregon law. Union employees are now paying the increased cost of heath care for 2013, which averaged 9.25% for the preferred provider plan and 6.25% for Kaiser. For union employees with family coverage on the PPO plan, that’s $181.95 a month. However, in TriMet’s new contract proposal located at trimet.org/newcontract, TriMet is proposing that union employees pay 6% of the premium cost, which is only $144.83 a month or $37.12 less than the amount currently being passed along. In essence, until the contract is settled, a typical union employee is paying $37.12 a month more than what TriMet has proposed for the new contract. Questions? Look at the difference between union and non union pension requirements

NON UNION EMPLOYEES-->TriMet provides a defined contribution pension plan to non-union employees. TriMet deposits the equivalent of 8 percent of a non-union employee's base pay into an investment account each pay period. The employee also has the option of contributing up to 15 percent of his/her base pay pre-tax to the account each pay period. The employee directs the investment of the employee's individual account. The employee is vested in the account after three years of service.
