Who's making money off Trimet?

People think that Trimet is a transit district. The carefully hidden truth is that Trimet is a cash machine.

The MAX crash could have been physically discouraged

It appears that Tuesday's MAX/car collision could possibly have easily been prevented. It appears the driver made an illegal left or U turn at SW 18th and Taylor where there's clearly a "straight ahead only" sign, but the median is open and smoothly paved, inviting people to drive across it. In addition, there's no train warning sign.

TriMet could easily make service better

Besides the disruption on the Orange Line tonight, there was also a car stuck on the Steel Bridge which delayed the last few Blue Line trains (as well as further causing issues for the Yellow Line).

A suggestion was made to take Line 20 to Line 57 as an alternative for getting to the west side, as both run very late.  However, it turns out that Line 20 may just miss Line 57 at night.  This means that riders either have to wait a long time at Beaverton TC or that trips are not possible.

TriMet: 20-Burnside/Stark Weekday To Beaverton Transit Center
TriMet: 57-TV Hwy/Forest Grove Weekday To Forest Grove

It is true that it's virtually impossible to please everybody, and during the day time making one transfer work can break others.  But at night and when there's a directional flow of riders, shifting a schedule by just a few minutes can make transit be an option.

Trimet fail, and fail miserably

Trimet can't find people to take their jobs and apparently isn't interested in keeping the employees they currently have

Over on a private face group there is extreme consternation over the current sign up for bus drivers.
While the block sign-ups were supposed to be eliminated trimet but also eliminated some long existing programs, like the part time 3 day workweek which is been around for probably a decade. And this is leading to yet another morale breakdown with operators. This is from a current operator.

I think this is over the top

Classic tweets

Not sure why Trimet thought this was necessary

The shootings have nothing to do with Portland or Trimet so I really don't get why this was necessary.
My assumption is that Trimet thinks it will be good P.R.
If you scroll through the Twitter feed you'll see many citizens questioning the motivation also.

Trimet not impressive

Henry Beasley on the latest assault

Brothers and Sisters,

Here we go again, number 27 assaults this year and…..welcome to SUMMER.

Last night we had yet another assault, this time involving an intoxicated female on the 75 line bus around 11 to 1130pm.  The intoxicated female was assaulting various riders then the operator.  The operator was struck at least 6 times, 3 of which were in the face.

Trimess strikes again

Trimet "temporary" raise for new employees

There is  some controversy swirling around the process that was used in approving these "temporary" raises for new employees. One aspect of the controversy is the fact that there has been no side letter issued, rather an exchange of letters. More detail on this to follow.

Chris Day On wages

Congratulations to all of our soon to be new hires who will now be making $14.25 an hour for their first 6 weeks and then will be at $15.63 for the following 6 months. To be honest I feel that our starting wage should match First Student’s starting wage of $16.00 an hour. For those who might not know, First Student is part of our union as well. Our union officers also permitted First Student to raise their new hire rate $13.96 to $16.00. I feel that both First Student and TriMet new hire rate should at least be equal and at $16.00 an hour. There are many things that are taking place just on this subject alone and I hope members will take enough interest in this to help get our union on the right track.
