In the current Labor Press our paid representative printed a response to my video, that talked about the need for clarification of something that is told to new members to our Union during their first orientation (or first contact with our union or their first stint with a unionized job), that “they do not have representation until the end of probation.”  In the current Labor Press our paid representative printed a response he had stated, “I would like to begin by welcoming all new members at all of our locations.  We continue to see new hires across all locations.  One thing that I continue to stress at new hire orientations is the fact that you are entitled to have a union officer present at any meeting you are called in for with management.  You are also entitled to receive guidance from the union while on probation.  Please remember that you can always come and talk with me or ANY union officer if you have any question pertaining to benefits, or the contract, or any questions at all.  I would also like to encourage you to talk with your co-workers and union reps to educate yourself, with the union’s help, on what the union can do for you.”

I have talked to numerous members and asked them the same question (as I stated in the video) and they continue to say the same theme (“they do not have representation until the end of probation.”).

This increase shows that people are “saying we want these (transit) investments made,” APTA’s president, Michael Melaniphy, told USA Today. Needless to say, by “investments” he means building new rail transit lines.

I have no idea how Trimet comes up with this stuff

I'm somebody that pays close attention to the Trimet operation. I've seen and posted the 'very late buses and trains' to the TRIMET SCANNER twitter account. I have not seen any decrease in late buses/trains that is visible. Yet they are saying things are lovely. You can't believe anything that comes out of Trimet.

Mary Longoria states in the “Labor Press” “The Bulletin” our union newspaper “I would like to update members on my ATU Bulletin article from last month regarding monthly reports. Since last month the credit card billing has been changed and it worked out quite well. The billing now starts on the 28^th of each month and goes through to the 27^th instead of the 12^th through the 11^th. I was able to post the credit card charges before the report ran for the month. This will help in the accuracy of the monthly reports. I think this was one of the main reasons why reports changed after the reporting cycle.”

This is a letter to Erik Halstead and Alex Hawk in regards to an incident that happend with these two people in 2013. 

In July of 2013, I published a post on my now-deleted TriMet-hate blog, Portland Transit Lane. The article talked about a negative encounter that both Erik and Alex had with TriMet supervisor Jason Bynum. After a TriMet bus almost crashed into Erik's vehicle that he was driving, Erik attempted to discuss the matter with Bynum and he wasn't interested in hearing Erik's story at all. After talking with Jason, I deemed blame to be on both Erik and Alex and went on my blog and published a very disrespectful and slanderous article about Alex and Erik that was full of lies, bias and fascism, without checking both sides of the story first and without any regard to Erik's or Alex's feelings. 

I would like to offer my most sincerest apologies to both Erik  and Alex for calling them idiots, and what quite frankly was stabbing both of them in the back. They were friendly to me and I betrayed them. I have since shut down my blog and have abandoned talking about TriMet all together. I would love to be friends with both of them again, but if not, I completely understand

Trimet redesigning its website

This is interesting. Nobody can leave anything alone apparently. The first picture is the 'redesigned' site, the next two pictures are the old site. 

Much less information available on the new site than the old site. Not sure what the motivation is to change it other than it gives some bureaucrat something to do.

Never a dull moment for MAX riders!

Portland police on Monday afternoon held a TriMet MAX train on Southeast Division Street after receiving a report that a man who was accused of stealing two axes from the Mall 205's Home Depot was swinging them at strangers and had boarded a southbound train.
The call came in at 3:06 p.m. from the Home Depot at 10120 S.E. Washington St.
Officers received reports that the man, his face concealed by a blue handkerchief, had been running through the parking lot, swinging two small axes.
He was last seen getting onto a southbound MAX train at the Main Street platform, police said.
East Precinct and Transit Police officers coordinated with TriMet to have the train to stop at the Division Street platform.
Officers said the suspect complied with police orders and was taken into custody without a problem.

The man was transported to a Portland hospital for a mental health and drug evaluation. Charges relating to the incident are pending his release from the hospital.
