THE TOP TRIMET STORY OF 2013

And all the Trimet apologists came out of the woodwork to decry this KOIN Jeff Gianola report. And of course Trimet issued its phony 'fact check' in its attempt to discredit this report. Even Joe Rose made excuses for Mcfarlane saying such nonsense as 'Mcfarlanes responsibilities are greater than those other general managers"
The KOIN report initiated the audit from the state that we are all waiting for, I expect them to do nothing controversial of course since its the state that runs Trimet.
And of course nothing changed at Trimet as a result of  this report, Trimet is unaccountable for anything that happens at the transit agency and there is not a damn thing any member of the public can do about it.
This report won numerous awards by the way.

The top blog stories of the past year

I was planning on re-posting the top blog stories for this year but as I started going through the blog it became apparent just how many stories actually qualified for honors this year.
Most posts get between 20-100 views. This review only covers the stories that generated more than 100 individual views. I'm always surprised by how many of these stories get literally hundreds and even thousands of views.
Since there are so many I am only providing a list for each month of that months top blog posts!

Ask Lilypedia goes on a Christmas Trimet rant

The sham that has become Trimet

Trimet has gone from a transit agency to an agency obsessed with capital projects. The entire agency has been hijacked by the capital projects division and the appointment of Neil Mcfarlane to head Trimet proves the point. He was the director of the capital projects division for years. The endless hiring of bureaucrats and executives has taken a real toll on direct service delivery. Don't forget that for each person that sits behind a desk or goes to meetings there could be one or two full time bus/train drivers. With Kitzhaber in control there is no hoping this will change anytime soon.
Trimet has clearly lost its way. Many executives have found that out for themselves and have chosen to move on from the once well regarded transit agency. Trimet no longer makes any of the lists for 'best of' transit services. Although the propaganda department works night and day to continue convincing the public how wonderful Trimet is most of the public is not fooled any longer. They see the situation for what it is. Trimet has become a very average transit district for a small city. Decent service during commute hours then nothing to brag about nights and weekends.
Trimet functions without the slightest bit of oversight. They are completely unaccountable for every single failure that has occurred since Mcfarlane took over.
The entire agency is nothing but a sham and a way for those in charge to get rich.

Trimet Pork Budgets
Public affairs division=$8,305,783
Safety and security division=$13,435,090
Information/technology division=$7,280,489
Finance division=$11,851,883
Human resources division=$2,952,739

The trimet public budget is 303 pages of hard to understand data
We don't have a breakdown of all the managers/assistant managers/executives/ mid level executives involved with the operations division but that is in the millions.

JANUARY-TRIMET EXECUTIVES SANCTIONED FOR ILLEGAL BEHAVIOR

This is the exact court case that I filed against Mcfarlane! They are using this case as an example for other employers to think twice before acting like power hungry ego maniacs.
The guys a loser, he needs to be gone, all of his cronies need to be gone, and a new board of directors formed.

John Copic violated the law

John Copic had the sheriff come out before the court room doors opened to inform 'everyone' (while looking straight at me) that taking pictures and recording audio in the court is not permitted. Well guess what? The ORS says it is permitted. But heck, this is Portland and we already know the kind of stuff this DA pulls. (see the story of Lane Jensen)

WW updates Lane Jensens story

Anti-TriMet blogger Lane Jensen has deleted his website after being arrested for the second time this year in connection to charges that he harassed transit agency spokeswoman Roberta Altstadt with repeated text messages (“A Visit From the TriMet Squad,” WW, Oct. 31, 2013). Jensen was arrested Oct. 17 on 31 counts of telephone harassment of Altstadt. On Dec. 7, Jensen aired a podcast taunting transit officials. “Sorry, TriMet managers,” he wrote on his blog, Portland Transit Lane. “You might be able to tell me what I can type, but it’s totally different when I start a podcast.” It wasn’t. Transit police arrested Jensen again Dec. 17 for violating the terms of his release by talking obscenely about Altstadt in the audio. Jensen was bailed out by fellow TriMet watchdog blogger Al Margulies the next day. Jensen tells WW he doesn’t know if he’ll ever reboot his blog.
