Yes, "pioneering" may be a bit of hype, but he says here that the service he is referring to ended in 1929 (I won't get into how that service wasn't "public" as in publicly run).

And a map from just before the TriMet takeover only shows service down Hwy 99W. Or did he find a source saying that there were buses there?
