All ATU757 members have their ballots by now.
We have a very good cross section of ideas to vote on.
3 distinct choices are presented to the members.
Remember who the real enemy is, with all this internal bickering sometimes the people we really need to worry about get forgotten.
I'm referring to the Trimet management, specifically Mcfarlane and his hatchet man Stedmen. Mcfarlane gets another bonus every time he beats the union and his employees.
Stedmen beefs up his impressive union busting resume with each victory.
These two have had two consecutive victories against our beleaguered union.
They are hero's within the transit executive community. How do we deal with them.

Here are the choices

Jonathan Hunt at the Trimet board of directors

Trimet officials have put a "hit" out on Jonathan

Trimet Union busting back with a vengeance

That’s news to Jeff Klatke, president of 25,000-member Oregon AFSCME. Klatke says AFSCME has plenty of public sector contracts that allow new member union orientation to take place on paid work time — including the contract that covers lawyers at the state attorney general’s office.
“You should be concerned about the quality of legal counsel you have received,” Klatke told the TriMet board of directors at its March 23 meeting.

Henry Beasley

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The question I was asked by another member, “Whoever is elected needs to also win the battle of public opinion, are there some things we could do to help swing the momentum our way?”

Trimet makes no effort to inform the public of its board meetings

Trimet executives have a long history of lying whenever it suits them

These people are professional liars and lie without a shred of morality.
They may have one of the best PR departments in the transit industry but anybody who actually follows them knows they are shameless careerists without conscience.
 These people are dangerous .

Do you work at Trimet-welcome to fascism

Over 5000 ballots about to be sent out for the ATU757 election

The ATU757 election offers 3 distinct choices of the future of this union. I outline those choices in the video below without the baggage of personalities but as an objective blogger

Trimet Fail!

US Public Transport Is a Disaster, and Urban Planners Are to Blame

Disappearing Trimet bus mystery solved

Thanks Lane Jensen

Trimet mayhem alerts

First of all, yesterday:

Trimet executives think bus drivers are slaves

Mcfarlane and Stedmen don't sign the "appreciation" card

Trimet sues ATU757 because they don't want operators to take decent breaks

Trimet made a 'deal' with past president that offers operators very little time for sufficient breaks. Shirley Block says that agreement is void but Trimet (Mcfarlane and Stedmen) say that they are entitled to continue screwing its employees out of decent breaks.

Trimet FAIL

Lots of pissed off Trimet riders today.
And there are several riders paying close attention.

Henry Beasley-Candidate for ATU757 president

My platform:
1. Actual transparency: We have a duty to act visibly, predictably and understandably to promote participation and accountability. Simply making information available is not sufficient to achieve transparency without accountability.
2. Actual accountability: Ensuring that officers are answerable for their actions and that there is redress when duties and commitments are not met. Report/explain/justify all decisions to members.
3. Integrity: Adhere to moral and ethical principles while rebuilding and protecting unionized values. WE ARE YOU VOICE NOT YOUR EMPLOYER!

Trimet's new e-fare crap is downright dangerous

Remember that Trimet officials just decided to raid the general fund of $30+ million for this idea of theirs and never held one public hearing about making that decision. It's being crammed down all riders throats with the end game being riders will no longer have a cash option

What is Bruce Hansens' position on allowing retirees to vote on contracts as proposed by Shirley

I sent this question to Bruce's website contact

Trimet non union wages are rising much faster than service hours

In 7 years the non union employees at Trimet have seen over 12% increase in their salaries.
I guess they are grabbing as much as they can get away with right now.
They are not raising fares at least this year, wouldn't look good I suppose.

We know for sure that hours of service has been flat and hardly moving upward at all.

Kinda illustrates Trimet management priorities doesn't it?

If you got some time on your hands here is the Trimet budget

Good Job Bruce

Doug Kelsey is playing musical managers

Look at that smile! A man you can trust!
New assistant general manager (or is he chief operating officer, who knows, Trimet has so many different technocrats and is constantly adding more I can't keep track of who's who and what title they have this month) is moving people around again. Most notably it appears that Lomax is being removed from operations and is being 'sent out on the road'. (sounds like they want to get rid of her finally)  He gave her a fancy title "Chief of Staff" (these technocrats are impressed with themselves and their fancy titles) and she will be performing such things as "corporate bench-marking" and "balance score card". When it comes to taking what should be simple and making it ridiculously complicated government technocrats excel.
How to make 'work' out of 'nothing'.

He's moving around all the other appointed for life managers I suppose to present some illusion that he is 'changing' something. The thing is, moving the same people around doesn't really change anything because they are the same people with the same ideas. It's all window dressing and we've seen it all before, many times actually.

One thing that becomes very clear when you read his memo, is how ridiculously bureaucratized   Trimet really is. All these managers doing who knows what all day? Holy hell,so no wonder service is so terrible. All that money wasted on these manager positions when it could be used for direct services.

One thing I liked was Kelsey's use of the word "Trimet Brand". That's exactly what it is. Its a goddamn public relations triumph. Like Coke or Pepsi. It's completely artificially created via intense marketing strategies.

Nothing will change, it never does

Dan Martin is banned from holding ATU office

If Bruce was aware that Dan had a criminal record he himself  is guilty of a felony
The question I have is simple, why did Bruce Hansen stand by him so long?

Trimet BS

I always like to watch the various BS that comes out of the Trimet propaganda department, regurgitated dutifully by the mainstream media, swallowed whole by the unsuspecting public.

Take the new "service additions". Let's take a look at them.

Another fantastic Dan Christensen story

I propose the following Trimet tax increase measures

Imagine a transit district that actually put the lives of its riders ahead of its crony capitalists. Imagine if the technocrats running Trimet actually 'cared' about the people that have to use its systems.

We would be seeing proposals like this:

Manufacturing consent
