According to TRIMET data, there were There were 7.8 million trips taken on buses, MAX and WES in December 2010.
According to Wikipeda Portland has an estimated population of 582,130
That would mean that every single person living in Portland boarded our system 13 times?

The Portland/Vancouver SMSA is 1.75 million people.
Is that case each person would have boarded our system 3.5 times each.
Actually - As of July 1, 2009, Portland estimated MSA was 2.24 million.
According to THIS Portland's population is 545,140, and the metro population is around 2,009,350.
Even with those figures that would mean that every single person would have boarded three times.
I still think its weird.
Or 125,806 people would have had to commute to and from work every day of December. Still not realistic, but also have to take into account random trips, day outings, ect. That gets a bit closer.
