The Daily Bell takes on American government workers

The problem with all of these "free market" analysis is the fact that they fail to bring into the discussion the enormous obscene wealth that has been consolidated in the hands of the few. There is plenty of capital floating in the world to pay all the salaries, benefits, and pensions of all the government workers, but the elite refuses to give up its "private holdings" so support anyone but their own clans and cronies. Fools that the civilian population are, don't get it. The Daily Bell is one of the credible free market publications and many of their points in this discussion hold water.

Desperation of US Government Workers

American's hating Americans--a selection of comments from the KATU website

Unions are nothing but dens of corruption depending on finding members who are unable to make their own decisions. Why would anyone be surprised?
------------
With a leader like this, how shocking is it tri-met drivers are generally terrible drivers who think the road is owned by them?
The drivers obviously feel they are above the law and their leader has no respect for it either...Color me shocked.

----------------
This union thug will receive kid glove treatment just as any other union parasite does when caught breaking the law. Note: labor unions are parasites. Trade unions are respectable.
----------------------
What a hipocryt!!! He defends TriMet employees who pretty much get away with murder and he does this? He needs to either resign or be fired.

Stupidity is us

Can you believe that someone authorized power washing the Beaverton Transit Center in the sub freezing weather?

I can believe it, because I have seen this stupidity before!

They had to get out the ice melter!

It turns out the guy that does that job has a contract to come out every week, but nobody at the corporate headquarters (Trimet) bothers to tell him not to come out in sub freezing weather!

Full time operators benefits cost=$18, 580.68 for the year.

In 2009 it cost Trimet  $2457 less for a part time than a full time employee in in benefit costs, but the part time employee is expected to pay more for his/her health care!

GOD BLESS AMERIKA!

TRIMET NEWS REPORTS

WHY IS THIS HAPPENING?

A full time employee with no family on Blue Cross will now have to pay $80/month for his/her health insurance.

A part time employee with no family on Blue Cross will now have to pay $153/mo of his/her insurance?

The question is WHY?

Two employees doing the exact same job with the exact same insurance yet the one making the least amount of money has to pay more?

Throwing Public Unions Under the Bus

The current Congress and President Obama are intentionally creating a nationwide anti-union atmosphere. The Democrats' silence over the above issues is, in fact, a signal of approval. Public workers are being targeted because they are the strongest sector of the national labor movement and their strength is incompatible with the agenda of the political-corporate establishment: making working people pay for the bank bailouts and two foreign wars.

Truthout.org

Public workers cannot be spectators in this unfolding drama. They must learn to act collectively. Unions must educate their membership about the gravity of the coming assault. Anti-union attacks must be resisted while alternatives are proposed; state funding must be increased by raising taxes on the rich and the corporations. If public employee unions are busted, the rest of the labor movement will be targeted next – but it will be too weak to defend itself.
