Although technically not retired, I will not have to drive any bus until the end of the month, and that will be only 1 day. Then another month until I have to drive again! And even after that it will only be one day a week till the end of May. Come June it will be over for me, if everything goes as planned in my life.
God what a relief to have my life back. I stayed part time because during the line training it became obvious to me that I would never last as full time driver here.
The shifts are too long, the work hours are too crazy, and the management of questionable ethics, even back then.
Of course now that i have the perspective of 15 years the old management was much more progressive than what we are dealing with now.
We really have some awful characters in charge here, and the fish rots from the head down.
Mr Macfarlane has offhandedly ruined our work environment by poisoning public opinion against us by distributing events and stories that show us in a negative light then producing volume after volume of negative propaganda about our "benefits", benefits that we have worked hard to achieve over the last 25 years by giving up raises. Not one word of the obscene benefits provided to our former excutives, or the money being huddled aside for their retirement. To listen to that Nazi Macfarlane, its all about union workers.
There has been no concrete evidence presented to anyone that compared our benefits to any of the major transit districts in this country.
It's all been innuendo and declarations, all very cheap shots.
We have roving bands of 'secret riders' who make up false reports about us. (and this is no distortion by me, I have concrete proof that the reports that were filed about me were bald faced lies)
Yet we have operators and mechanics that continue to bail out this rotten company of ours by working their RDO's and providing bus trades when necessary. Maybe Macfarlane thinks that most union employees won't stick together when push comes to shove and will just give the management what it wants, like GREECE. You can see the result of giving in to the blackmailers who try to use scare tactics and false information to get what they want.
Make no mistake, if we give in now this will not be the end of our demise, but only the beginning.
