I
have a question for you Mr. Rose. This is from an Earlier Oregonian
story " In fact, a list of the top 50 non-union pay increases (PDF)
obtained by The Oregonian shows that McFarlane started green-lighting
raises for managers making $110,700 or more in February 2012, even as he
publicly talked about how he had frozen their pay. " So correct me if I
am wrong here. Neil McFarland said publicly he had frozen non-union
workers pay. In fact he had ok'd fairly big raises. When someone does
something like that are they not a liar? Aren't they lying? Why is Neil
McFarland still manager after doing that? Why wasn't he terminated? From
the same article " Indeed, the general manager praised the sacrifice of
non-union workers "now in their fourth year" of a pay freeze.
Records
show that McFarlane tucked the raises into a $20 million generic line
item called "contingencies" in the budget" Now that is out and out
lying. You wrote in this article " quietly tapped into a $20 million
rainy day fund to give raises to his top managers and other non-union
employees" Quitely tapped??? How does a manager of such a large agency
quietly tap into anything? Why did you leave out the part that he lied
about what he was doing? Again from that article " Records show that
McFarlane tucked the raises into a $20 million generic line item called
"contingencies" in the budget. " Tucked?? If you state the fund is for
emergencies and then take money out of that fund for pay raises isn't
that liying? Why did you pull punches in your article today? Neil
McFarland lied about pay raises and tried to cover up what he was doing
by "tucking" the expense into a line item from a fund not intended for
pay raises.
